We were all hoping that AMD’s newest family of x86 processors (Bulldozer) would be blazingly fast and bulldoze Intel’s offerings that competed in the same price segment. And it did! Not.

Unfortunately, this is the kind of performance you should expect from an AMD FX-8150 (their current top of the line).

If you don’t believe the illustration is accurate, go ahead and read the reviews, but you’d be wasting 30 minutes of your time re-imagining what you see above.

I honestly had high hopes for Bulldozer despite the fact that I own an Intel CPU (bought last month). It would have been great to see AMD succeed, because that success would have motivated Intel to be more competitive, resulting in more choice for us, the consumers. Unfortunately, Bulldozer didn’t deliver and if AMD can’t pick up the pace and address their weaknesses in future architectures, the future of x86 desktop computing is looking rather bleak.

AMD, I am disappoint. We expected a bulldozer and you have us a hungry man with a shovel.

BONUS: Bulldozer’s power consumption when overclocked! (after the jump)
