In 2002, Teresa Lewis offered two men sex and cash to kill her husband and stepson in order for her to collect a $250,000 insurance policy. Last night at 9:13 p.m she was executed by lethal injection, becoming the first woman to be executed by the state of Virginia in 100 years.

Regardless of the nature of a crime, the death penalty is nothing more than the ultimate denial of human rights and an ineffective punishment. It violates the right to life as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and punishes other people more than it punishes the one being executed.

Way to go, America.
