When asked if they believe today’s youth would have better lives than their parents, only 44% of Americans said that’s likely.
I know it doesn’t look like a shockingly low percentage at first glance, but when put into perspective it’s the lowest ever recorded.

Note: Gawker mistakenly reports that this reflects the opinion of today’s kids. That’s wrong. It reflects the opinion of Americans as a whole (young adults are actually the most hopeful age group). Hamilton Nolan should probably spend more time reading his sources.
