Often times we watch movies without giving too much thought to the way they sound (unless they sound really bad). We may think about the visual effects and comment on how incredible they look, but sound effects rarely make the discussion. That’s not to say sound effects don’t play a huge role in movies, though. The greatest visual effects mean nothing if your explosions sound like tired farts.

Here’s a little feature from Soundworks Collection in which the team talks about the work they did for Transformers 3, and how they used dry ice, electric guitars, fireworks and more to create an incredibly believable soundscape.

I honestly was a little disappointed. This movie needed more action. Had A GREAT plot but needed more action other then the final battle scene. Transformers 2 was EPIC, sure the plot wasn’t super but who cares the trailer itself made you wonder how they got to all those places. But Transformers 3, 80% of the footage all happened in Chicago. We needed more forest scenes and desert scenes.

I guess you have a point, but you know what they say, you can’t please everyone. A movie that tries to do that ends up disappointing everyone instead.
