David E. Coombs, a lawyer representing Bradley Manning, wrote on his blog that Manning was stripped naked for seven hours on Wednesday and Thursday – allegedly to prevent him from harming himself.
“Last night, PFC Manning was inexplicably stripped of all clothing by the Quantico Brig. He remained in his cell, naked, for the next seven hours. At 5:00 a.m., the Brig sounded the wake-up call for the detainees. At this point, PFC Manning was forced to stand naked at the front of his cell.“
Pentagon’s press secretary attributed the general conditions of Private Manning’s confinement to “the seriousness of the charges he’s facing, the potential length of sentence and the national security implications.” So it’s not because they want to force him to testify against WikiLeaks… right, right…
You know, at least China isn’t claiming to be the land of the free.
