Muammar Gaddafi’s death photos and video

According to reports from the BBC, Al Jazeera and the Guardian, Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi is dead.

The unconfirmed events leading to his death are said to have begun when Gaddafi and some of his remaining forces found themselves surrounded in a handful of buildings in the North West of Sirte (Gaddafi’s hometown). A convoy of vehicles carrying Gaddafi tried to break out and flee but were bombed by NATO warplanes. The airstrike didn’t kill Gaddafi, but NTC (National Transitional Council) soldiers on the ground opened fire on what was left of the convoy and shot the dictator in both of his legs. At this point Gaddafi tried to hide in a sewer pipe/tunnel, but he was found and arrested. Soon after that, he was shot in the head at close range.

This is the sewer pipe in which Gaddafi tried to hide. After 42 years in power, this is where he found his end.

Hit the jump to see photos of Gaddafi’s arrest, dead body and a video showing his remains being taken away (note: they contain blood and gore).

BlackBerry turns OK drivers into careless assholes

Remember last week’s apocalyptic disruption in BlackBerry services that made millions of people around the world embarrassed to admit they still use prehistoric phones? Of course you do(‘nt), who could forget such a horrific event.

Anyway, as it turns out, the outage wasn’t all doom and gloom. In fact, it actually saved lives!

A dramatic fall in traffic accidents this week has been directly linked to the three-day disruption in BlackBerry services.

In Dubai, traffic accidents fell 20 per cent from average rates on the days BlackBerry users were unable to use its messaging service. In Abu Dhabi, the number of accidents this week fell 40 per cent and there were no fatal accidents.

On average there is a traffic accident every three minutes in Dubai, while in Abu Dhabi there is a fatal accident every two days.

If Satan was on Twitter he would have tweeted something like: Dear #blackberry: please fix your shit, I need fresh souls.

US Marine defends Occupy Wall Street protesters

Not the most articulate rant out of all the Occupy Wall Street videos, but it does carry a strong message. And it’s easy to see why he’s so angry. I mean, he was sent to Iraq to allegedly fight for freedom and he returned home to find an oppressed nation where the notion of democracy means nothing.

Film-based video cameras are dead

Not literally, of course, but ARRIPanavision and Aaton have completely stopped producing film-based cameras, their new focus being on designing and manufacturing digital ones.

“The demand for film cameras on a global basis has all but disappeared,” says ARRI VP of Cameras, Bill Russell, who notes that the company has only built film cameras on demand since 2009. “There are still some markets–not in the U.S.–where film cameras are still sold, but those numbers are far fewer than they used to be. If you talk to the people in camera rentals, the amount of film camera utilization in the overall schedule is probably between 30 to 40 percent.”

This doesn’t mean there’s going to be a dramatic change in the coming months or that all future movies will be shot on digital cameras. There’s still a large surplus of parts and the current film cameras will continue to be usable for many years to come, but the current surplus will eventually die down and things will truly shift.

For now though, the only thing this change in production will affect is the rate at which the transition from film to digital is advancing. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. We may lose the organic feel of film, but the new generation of cameras is offering many advantages that more than make up for it.

Fatass who played Harry Potter bully wasn’t really an actor

Turns out that Jamie Waylett, the fatass boy who played Vincent Crabbe in the Harry Potter movies, wasn’t acting his bully role in the movie series. He actually is a bully in real life.

London police have arrested the babyfaced 22-year-old for looting and packing a homemade bomb during the London riots after a security camera caught him stealing champagne from a drugstore while carrying a Molotov cocktail. In the investigation that followed, the police have also discovered 15 marijuana plants that Waylett was growing in his apartment. This comes after he was caught growing 10 plants at his mom’s place back in 2009, offense for which he served 120 hours of community service.

His current court date has been set for November 11, and, if found guilty, he could spend up to 14 years in prison for the pot plants alone.

File this under “how to get great career opportunities and shit all over them.”

Scarlett Johansson’s nude leak hacker to be denied access to his social life for a long time

The guy’s name is Christopher Chaney, and for the alleged crime of hacking into the phones and email accounts of Scarlett Johansson, Christina Aguilera, Mila Kunis and other celebs, the 35-year-old virgin stands to lose access to his social life for up to 121 years. I guess the purpose of that would be to give him ample time to think about what he’s done, although that sounds like something that could be rather enjoyable, plusI don’t think he’d miss his social life (what social life?) that much.

“I wasn’t attempting to break into e-mails and get stuff to sell or purposely put it on the Internet,” Chaney said. “It just happened and snowballed … [I] didn’t know how to stop.”

There there, man, you’re like the Jesus of fappers. You gave up your freedom for our pleasure.
