Sometime at the end of last week, three government officials from the Chinese county of Huili went out to inspect a freshly completed upgrade for a countryside road. To document their inspection, they had a worker take some photos of them on the road, photos which were later posted on the county’s official website.

They had a problem though. The worker who took the pictures wasn’t a particularly talented photographer, and the photos he had taken were so bad not even he could stand looking at them. To remedy that, he decided to use his pro photoshop skills and composite the officials onto a different background. A little photoshop magic never hurt anyone, right? Except this guy wasn’t just a talentless photographer, he also sucked with photoshop. This is the “fixed” result which ended up being posted on the front page of the official website. Seamless. Except they don’t have shadows, the lighting doesn’t match, the perspective is off and they’re floating.

These are the original photos:

And this is how people reacted to the doctored photo: “I had nothing to do today so I visited the website for our county government.  The headline story was about the upgrade for the road to the countryside.  I looked at the photo and I almost coughed out half a liter of blood!  Even a rank amateur like myself can tell that this was a PhotoShop job, and they had the nerve to put this on the home page!”

And as with all outrageous photos posted online, people took things to the next level and came up with their own versions.
