So this privately built Danish rocket was set to fly into space yesterday (or the day before). But it didn’t. Because a $15 hairdryer malfunctioned.

That is the advanced technology they planned to use to keep a valve for the liquid oxygen hot, in order to prevent it from freezing. But with a budget of only $64,000, it’s not surprising that they chose such a low cost solution.

The rocket had a dummy inside and was planned to fly 30 kilometers above the Earth’s surface. You can watch the failed launch by clicking this link.
