Oh you...
New research suggests that women fear death more than men do, and that people with university degrees have less negative attitudes towards death than their less literate peers. That is what a team from the University of Granada has concluded after conducting a research project entitled Educación para la muerte: Estudio sobre la construcción del concepto de muerte en niños de entre 8 y 12 años de edad en el ámbito escolar, [Education On Death: A Study On The Building Of The Concept Of Death In Children Aged Between 8 And 12 At School].
They don’t go into detail as to why university degrees make death less scary, but my guess is that it’s got to do with the huge loans university education brings into the equation. The thought of living through long years of debt suddenly makes death seem less frightening.
