Damn it...
Do you know those silly stories in which one animal jumps off a cliff to its death and then the whole herd follows? I always thought those were made up (as analogies for the human herd mentality), that the survival instincts of animals wouldn’t allow them to do stupid things like that. But it turns out that stuff actually happens.
A Turkish sheep herder recently witnessed the suicide of his 52 sheep after one of them turned to the edge of a cliff and jumped, making the rest of the herd jump too. Which sounds a lot like iTunes hyping The Beatles and the media following (same mechanics).
