The annual BBC World Service Country Rating Poll, which has been tracking opinions about the influence of 27 world countries since 2005, has determined that if the world were a high school, Israel (<- documentary worth watching) would be eating at the unpopular kids’ table, together with Iran, North Korea and Pakistan. The table of the popular kids, where the jocks and cheerleaders hang out, would be (unsurprisingly) occupied by Germany, the UK, Canada, the EU and Japan.

The latest results are based on 28,619 in-home or telephone interviews conducted across a total of 27 countries by the international polling firm GlobeScan, together with the Program on International Policy Attitudes (PIPA) at the University of Maryland. GlobeScan co-ordinated fieldwork between 2 December 2010 and 4 February 2011. – bbc
