So you’ve parked your car in a spot without any shade, and it’s been sitting there for the past 4-5 hours. In that time, it has turned from a vehicle you use for transportation into a giant oven on wheels, and you’re probably afraid of entering it – for obvious reasons. What do you do?

The most popular choice is to follow the instruction in the car’s manual, which probably say you should turn your A/C all the way up, open the vents and crack the windows a couple of inches. That usually works well, but you’ve gotta enter the oven and sit in it for a while. Which isn’t ideal. Not when there’s a better, faster, greener solution.

Thanks to our ingenious friends over in Japan, you can cool down your car in less than a minute by simply rolling down the window on one side and opening and closing the door on the other side five or six times. This eliminates all the hot air inside and brings the temperature down to the same level as that in the external environment.

Sounds too good to be true? Try it yourself. Or watch them demonstrate it in this video.
