In a talk about personal safety at York University, a Toronto police officer said that women should avoid “dressing like sluts” to avoid being raped victimized. He later apologized and said he was embarrassed by his comments, but because there are countless other misogynists out there, 2,000 people gathered in Toronto for the city’s first “SlutWalk,” a march in defense of a woman’s right to dress any way she likes.

We are tired of being oppressed by slut-shaming; of being judged by our sexuality and feeling unsafe as a result. Being in charge of our sexual lives should not mean that we are opening ourselves to an expectation of violence, regardless if we participate in sex for pleasure or work. No one should equate enjoying sex with attracting sexual assault. – blogto.com

Now this is something I can get behind. God bless Canada!
