Stop staring, the article is right there ->>
Recent research done at the University of Copenhagen suggests that computers do indeed make you fat. … and here we go again.
Dr Jean-Philippe Chaput says that the mental stress of computer work triggers changes in blood sugar and hormone levels that trick the brain into thinking it has worked off lots of calories that need replaced. Because of that, he believes we should take regular screen breaks and maybe consider working and playing StarCraft II while standing up – a good idea only if your chair is THAT terrible.
Computers can make you fat – and not just from lack of exercise. Research shows that staring at a computer screen makes us work up an appetite for sweet treats like chocolate cake and biscuits. Computer games and TV watching have the same effect.

So um, how does a computer shove chocolate cake down someone’s throat? I thought people had choices. Food crave: to eat or not to eat the cake. Obviously, choosing to eat it is your own choice, all the time, no exceptions. If you choose to eat it, it wasn’t the computer that made you do it, it was you. The freedom to choose not to eat it existed.
And seriously, just look at most pro gamers and such. There is absolutely no correlation between weight and computer use. Generally, I think it’s quite the contrary, heavy computer users are lighter than the general public (not fitter, just lighter).
What makes people fat are two things: lack of activity and eating too much. And in a few cases genetics and certain dysfunctions also have a role.
But if your computer makes you fat, you should stop eating it!
Later edit: if you’re the kind that buys a lot of sweets and treats, you’re going to eat them whether you use a computer or not. My suggestion to Dr Chaput is to spend his budget on something more worthwhile.
