Good news for Peter Coffin and his forever alone buddies everywhere!

A new internet company based in San Diego is trying to capitalize on the needs of the socially inept by offering them fake social network girlfriends – for a fee.

The company is called Cloud Girlfriend and its promise is to provide a network of real people who post romantic messages and communicate with users on Facebook. For those interested in that proposal, make sure to “Register early to get in line. Due to high demand we are only able to accommodate a limited number of users to the site.” Not very shocking since half the internet is dying for one.

According to the service’s co-founder, David Fuhriman, “Cloudgirlfriend.com’s tagline is, ‘The easiest way to get a girlfriend is to already have one.’” He also said the service is “not a new virtual porn site or an adult chat service. Those services attempt to fill a physiological need, but it does not satisfy intimacy and friendship.” So what’s the cloud girlfriend supposed to offer? Confidence, self-esteem, genuine friendship? Ha! That’s a good one.

But yea, get yours while it’s hot!

Helping lonely people stay lonely.

PS: Saddest service. Ever.
