It’s been over a year since I’ve last worked on this blog. I kinda missed it, but at the same time, not really. OK, that needs a little explaining.

Everyone knows that if you don’t absolutely love doing something, it won’t be long before it starts feeling like a chore and your motivation to do it drops drastically. What is less known, though, is that even when you love doing something, other details can still turn it into a chore. Like taking it too seriously – which I am guilty of.

The part that I missed about blogging is connecting with people from all over the world and sharing stuff. It sounds cliche, and I know that all the social networks are focused on sharing, but this is different. Those ecosystems are not owned by you, and often times they have serious privacy issues (hint: Facebook). They also lack freedom, have a lot of spam and advertising, and you can only share with a limited audience. Running your own thing solves all of those problems.

Future plans

Since a lot of my opinions and views have changed in the year that has passed, the blog will no longer be a “self-improvement” one. My plans are to turn it into a sort of opinion/commentary blog, taking on the most important news headlines from around the globe (hence the new “things that matter” tagline), marketing my creative talents (motion-graphics, visual effects, and more), sharing outrageous/funny/unique web finds, and ultimately creating a community around those things. My wording might not make it sound too exciting, but it is! Or could be. We’ll see how it’s gonna turn out.

Oh and also, if you have any suggestions or questions regarding the new direction, get typing in the comments section – or else I’ll find out where you live.

Now to make this post slightly useful, here’s a short sweet clip explaining life, using music. Narration is by Alan Watts. Enjoy!
