Why?
To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the “Star Wars” saga, George Lucas is planning to re-release all 6 movies of the series in glorious 3D, starting with “Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace.” And obviously he’s doing it for the money since he admits to have never been a big proponent of 3D. Not that I have anything against making money, but he is trying to say it’s for the sake of the art.
“Haven’t been a big fan of 3-D, but that movie definitely improves in [the field of] 3-D … We’ve been looking for years and years and years of trying to take ‘Star Wars’ and put it in 3-D, but [the] technology hasn’t been there. We’ve been struggling with it, but I think this will be a new impetus to make that happen.” – George Lucas
If you want money just work on a new movie, dude.
