Stop donating to Candie’s Foundation, they’re a bunch of scumbags [money]

Bristol Palin, the ambassador of a teen pregnancy prevention nonprofit called the Candie’s Foundation, “earned” $262,500 in 2009 for her extraordinary role in encouraging preventing teen pregnancy. The same foundation only spent $35,000 on actual teen pregnancy prevention that year, their excuse for it being the fact that they’re “an operating foundation rather than a grant-making foundation.” That is to say they focus on useless celebrity campaigns and not on donations and grants.

Regarding Bristol’s compensation, this is what Candie’s Foundation has to say:

We know that Ms. Palin’s work has had a positive effect on teens. In a recent independent national survey of 1,000 teens that compared a Bristol Palin PSA with those of another national teen pregnancy organization that use non-famous teens, more than twice as many teens (57% vs. 27%) said Bristol’s PSA “got my attention”, three times as many (41% vs. 11%) said it was “powerful”, and more than twice as many (38% vs. 16%) said it was “memorable”.

Oh please, spare us the bogus survey trick. The only way Bristol’s $165,000 PSA could be considered “powerful” is if you compare it to the smell of a big pile of rotting shit. Seriously, having the brain-dead guy who fucks everything that moves talk sex with the girl who gave birth at 18 is not “powerful” stuff, it’s fucking painful. Whoever thought that’s a good idea should be sent to Iran for stoning.

Things manage to get even worse when looking at what the President/Founder, the CFO and the General Counsel paid themselves. According to these financial documents, the three “earned” no less than $12,835,605. That’s 366 times the amount they donated for teen pregnancy prevention. Not too shabby for running a “nonprofit” organization that does nothing, right?

This is the point where you feel bad about yourself if you’ve ever donated to the Candie’s Foundation or bought stuff from them. It’s also the point where you promise to never do it again. These scumbags are not doing anything to prevent teen pregnancy. All they’re doing is exploiting a genuine issue for personal gain.
