This graph by Leon Håland illustrates just how insanely explosive Google+’s growth is. After seeing it you might think Facebook is as good as dead, but that couldn’t be farther away from the reality of this situation. Why? Because even though the growth of Google+ really is insane, the graph ignores one hugely important aspect: how many people knew these brands when they launched their services.

Facebook started out of a dorm room and Twitter was created by a Norse God (I have no idea how Twitter got started), while Google+ came from an internet giant known by virtually everyone who ever owned a computer.

Now, I’m not saying Google+ doesn’t deserve to grow this fast, because it is a great service, but comparing its initial growth rate with that of Facebook and Twitter is a bit silly.
