History was made Wednesday as D-Wave Systems announced the sale of the world’s first commercial quantum computer, to Lockheed Martin Corporation. The system, known as D-Wave One, was purchased to help solve some of the company’s “most challenging computation problems.”
It feels like just yesterday everyone “knew” quantum computers were a technological impossibility, and now here we are with a fully functional one being bought by a huge corporation.
Exciting times.
