In order to compete with iTunes, Amazon’s digital download music service dropped the price of popular new songs to 69 cents, down from 89 cents. For the exact same tracks, Apple is asking $1.29 – an increase from 99 cents.

Even with those prices, Amazon’s Cloud Player has a market share of only 10% while Apple’s iTunes has about 70%.

Brand value is a wonderful thing (if you own Apple stock).

The picture attached reminded me: A little while ago the power-supply cable for my Macbook died a tragic death. It was under my housemate’s care at the time, so he called around to find a replacement. He was given some *crazy* prices for new ones, from apple stores only. Finally got through to someone in service, who leveled with him and said that the power supply cords for the macbooks are NOT designed to last long, so – basically – apple can get more money. Mine had lasted 3 or so years, and apparently that was incredibly impressive.

He hunted on ebay and found one for about 30 dollars Australian. I don’t remember what the prices were for ones from APPLE, but I know they were insane.

Can’t really blame them for designing stuff so that it doesn’t last forever. The pricing of said stuff is a little unreasonable though.
