The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement is trying to make pirates feel like cruel, heartless monsters for “stealing” media.

Whether you get it off the street or off the internet, digital piracy and product counterfeiting are not victimless crimes. The financial repercussions are very real and cost real jobs. WHY DON’T YOU ALSO KILL A PUPPY WHILE YOU’RE AT IT?

I’m not a pro-piracy advocate, but look at the numbers below.

Those reflect the box office performance of a movie called “Insidious.”

Now if you tell me that by pirating that movie people in the production crew will lose their jobs, I’m gonna slap you over the face. The flick earned 24 times its budget so if anyone involved in its creation is not getting paid or losing their job over it that’s all on Hollywood – for being full of greedy a-holes.

Even if piracy is so terrible that the movie won’t break $36 million, who is it hurting? The boom operators? No. It’s “hurting” some douchebag who will have to settle for a top of the line Mercedes instead of a Bentley. Boo hoo, such a devastating loss.

If anything, the silly premise of this PSA is making me want to torrent something.
