When your favorite cat dies, it doesn’t have to be the end.
A Brooklyn woman has revived the ancient Egyptian tradition of mummification and turned it into a modern business. Her name is PD Cagliastro and for a price ranging from $100 to $400 she’ll take your dead cat/dog or whatever pet you lost and ensure that in a thousand years it’ll look just the same as it did when it died!
So far, Cagliastro has had 120 customers (84 of which were male) and embalmed everything from racing pigeons and tarantulas to cats ran over by cars.
“When my cat died, I had supreme sadness. I was completely destroyed by it,” said Turner, 55, an Upper East Side businessman who refused to disclose his last name for fear of being ridiculed. Cagliastro mummified his cat and mounted it on a black velvet cushion last year, and Turner keeps it tucked away in a glass cabinet in his brownstone.
“It’s very personal. Even people I know well, I can’t say that this is my mummified cat in the corner. They would think you are crazy,” he explained.
This reminds me of the brilliant commercials they had in GTA IV. The one below to be more exact (and this one). Maybe she should buy the rights to it and air it on the radio to advertise her business.
